North-West College Expands Surgical Technology Program to Meet Projected Job Market Growth

Students Can Now Attend Classes at Campuses in Santa Ana and Long Beach, California

WEST COVINA, Calif.—The U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics has projected that the demand for surgical technologists will increase by 25 percent through 2018. As a leader in allied health training and education, North-West College has expanded its Surgical Technology Program to meet part of this growing need. Previously offered at the College’s West Covina, Pasadena, and Riverside campuses, the program will now be available in Santa Ana and Long Beach as well.

“The Surgical Technology Program at North-West College offers individuals a pathway to an exciting and challenging career,” Surgical Technology Program Director Jinnie Gardiner said. “The 15-month program encompasses everything from communication and leadership skills to lab simulations and surgical fundamentals. We’re thrilled to be able to offer it at five of our seven campuses.”

Surgical Technology Program students train to serve as an essential member of the operating room team. From passing instruments to surgeons to maintaining safe and sterile environments for patients, surgical technologists offer vital support for surgical procedures. Small class sizes at North-West College mean students have the opportunity to experience hands-on learning throughout their program. Students also benefit from learning in a caring, supportive environment from instructors who are dedicated to seeing them grow and succeed.

New classes for the Surgical Technology Program begin August 25, 2014. To learn more about the program or to enroll, please contact Michelle MacIntyre at [email protected].
