Glendale Career College Now Enrolling for Associate of Occupational Science in Surgical Technology Program
New Expanded Associate Degree Program Enables Students to Remain on the Leading Edge of the Rapidly Evolving Surgical Technology Field
GLENDALE, Calif.—Adding another associate’s degree to its list of offerings, Glendale Career College recently announced its newest program—an Associate of Occupational Science in Surgical Technology. Taking the spot of its former Surgical Technology Program, the Associate of Occupational Science expands on the previous career training program with a 76-semester-credit associate’s degree, which can be completed in less than two years.
“We recognize how vital Surgical Technologists are to high-functioning, highly educated surgical teams,” explained Chief Compliance Officer Serjik Kesachekian. “At GCC, we are committed to ensuring our Surgical Technology graduates remain competent as surgical procedures evolve and increase in complexity. That’s why we are excited to be able to offer this new Associate of Occupational Science in Surgical Technology.”
Surgical Technologists work closely with physicians, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel—prepping operating rooms and assisting surgeons and nurses before and during surgical procedures. Increasingly, hospitals and surgery centers are turning to Surgical Technologists to take on additional duties on the surgery team.
Approved by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), the College’s new associate’s degree program offers students a blended format. Individuals will participate in scheduled, live online lectures for each course and complete additional work outside of class. The hybrid format also includes weekly on-campus laboratory courses—giving students the opportunity to put their learning into practice in a realistic setting.
“Adding the Associate of Occupational Science in Surgical Technology to our list of programs is yet another way Glendale Career College continues to address the need for well-trained Surgical Technologists,” Kesachekian shared. “We can’t wait to see how these health care professionals will make a difference in their communities as they provide excellent patient care each and every day.”
