Former Brightwood College Students to Achieve their Educational Goals with Glendale Career College
Dr. Joseph Morris, Executive Officer for the California Board of Registered Nursing, to Offer Commencement Keynote Address
SAN DIEGO, Calif.—Saturday, July 20 will mark the end of a long journey for 70 nursing students as they cross the stage at graduation during Glendale Career College’s San Diego Commencement Ceremony. These individuals began their nursing programs with Brightwood College, only to have their dreams cut short when Brightwood closed precipitously this past December. GCC leadership stepped in and the college was granted approval to teach out the remainder of these students. Half a year later, 70 of the 288 nursing students being taught-out will realize their dream of becoming nurses as they enter the health care field as GCC graduates.
“We could not be more proud to call these students Glendale Career College graduates,” shared President Mitchell Fuerst. “It will be an honor to celebrate them and all of their hard work to reach this milestone moment.”
The ceremony will recognize 38 graduates of the College’s Associate of Arts in Nursing (Registered Nurse) program and 32 from its Vocational Nurse program. As part of their studies with Glendale Career College, students received in-class instruction and had the chance to put their newfound knowledge into practice with clinical learning opportunities. A hallmark approach of GCC, this blend enables graduates to gain real-world experience—allowing them to hit the ground running in the World of Work.
Commencement will bring together family members, friends, instructors, professors and Team Members—all gathered to mark the graduates’ achievements. Attendees and graduates will also hear from the ceremony’s keynote speaker, Dr. Joseph Morris, the Executive Officer of the California Board of Registered Nursing. Dr. Morris has made nursing and the betterment of the nursing field his lifelong pursuit. He will address the graduates—encouraging them to not lose sight of the significance of their graduation and to continue to reach for their goals as they embark on this new stage in their health care journey.
“I am especially looking forward to this Commencement with Dr. Joseph Morris giving the keynote address,” shared President Mitchell Fuerst. “There is nothing better than watching our graduates walk across the stage, knowing that each cap and gown represents a life changed by the quality career education we provide here at Glendale Career College.”
Friends and family members unable to attend Commencement can still take part by watching the full ceremony live on July 20 on the Glendale Career College Facebook page at facebook.com/glendalecareer/.
