Glendale Career College (GCC) Honors Students’ Achievements at Fall Commencement Ceremony

Students Graduate with Relevant Skills Prepared for the World of Work in Health Care

PASADENA, Calif.—On Sunday, October 22, Glendale Career College (GCC) celebrated its 2017 Fall Commencement Ceremony. Held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, family, friends, Instructors, and Team Members celebrated with graduates as they crossed the stage, marking a milestone moment after many months of training and hard work.

“These individuals before you were brave enough to dream of a brighter future and courageous enough to make that dream a reality,” President Mitchell Fuerst shared. “When you cross the stage today, you’ll join a legacy that’s more than 50 years strong. For more than half a century, our College has trained health care professionals in short-term programs for gainful employment. It all started with my mother, Marsha Fuerst, and her desire to help men and women just like you learn the skills they needed to succeed in the health care field.”

Sunday’s graduates represented six of the College’s 11 programs, including Associate of Science in Healthcare Administration, Central Service Instrument Technician, Medical Assistant, Professional Fitness Trainer, Surgical Technologist, and Vocational Nurse. All of GCC’s programs combine quality classroom curriculum with practical hands-on training. A hallmark of the College, this educational delivery is designed to help students cement newfound skills, preparing them to hit the ground running in the allied health field once they graduate.

The ceremony included a performance of the national anthem by talented vocalist Scott A. People as well as a keynote speech from “THE QUEEN OF L.A.” Yesi Ortiz. Widely known for her role as a radio host on Power 106-FM, Ortiz has demonstrated her commitment to music and to her community over her 15-year career. Her ongoing charity work has garnered her much recognition throughout the Greater Los Angeles area.

“The first step to transforming your life into the life you truly want is to take the leap to believe in yourself, and in what you can achieve,” Ortiz shared. “You have worked really hard to get to this day, and it’s all because you believed you could do it. I’ve used the power of belief in my own life, and it has allowed me to reach my goals and build a life that I could have only dreamed of. Believe in yourselves; believe in your success—it’s only just starting.”
