Glendale Career College to Honor More Than 630 Graduates at Upcoming Virtual Commencement Ceremony
Event Demonstrates College’s Commitment to Recognizing Students’ Achievements During Pandemic
GLENDALE, Calif.—For more than 630 students, Friday, July 17 will mark the culmination of many months of rigorous studies as they join with fellow graduates in a virtual Commencement Ceremony. Slated to begin at 6 p.m., the event aims to honor the achievements of students who completed their education in the middle of the COVID-19 outbreak. Thousands of family members, friends, and Instructors are also expected to join the ceremony as they celebrate these graduates’ incredible accomplishments.
“While I had hoped to shake these students’ hands as they crossed the graduation stage, this virtual Commencement does not, for a moment, diminish how proud I am of all their hard work,” explained GCC President Mitchell Fuerst. “They have responded to these challenging times with remarkable courage and compassion—values that have guided our College for more than five decades—and I am honored to welcome them to our alumni family.”
Students will have the opportunity to wear their cap and gown during the ceremony, which will be provided free of charge for this special event. Along with the presentation of graduates, the evening will also include a heartfelt message from President Fuerst. In addition, GCC is providing these individuals with a restaurant gift card for a family meal, also free of charge, so they can celebrate this milestone moment with their family while enjoying a meal together.
Many of these graduates were partway through their programs when COVID-19 forced the College to move classes online in March. Undeterred, these individuals demonstrated resilience and an unwavering drive to reach their educational goals—finishing their courses at home.
“These are extraordinary circumstances we are facing, but these are extraordinary individuals,” shared Fuerst. “Just as they have risen above the hardships of these past few months, I am confident they will continue to rise above any challenges they face in the health care field as they make a difference in the lives of their communities each and every day.”
