North-West College and Glendale Career College Have Their Largest Graduation in History

1,017 Graduates Earned Their Allied Health Care Diplomas

WEST COVINA, CA—On May 4, 2014, North-West College and Glendale Career College had the largest graduation ceremony in their history as 1,017 graduates earned their allied health care diplomas. This was a momentous day, especially when compared to the first North-West College graduation in the 1960’s which was held in a single classroom at the West Covina campus, where all of the students and their families gathered. The ceremony has successfully expanded to the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, conferring 909 graduates from North-West College and 108 graduates from Glendale Career College with staff and faculty from eight campuses in attendance to congratulate their graduates.

The College’s President, Mitchell Fuerst, opened the ceremony welcoming the graduates. “I am both proud and honored to be a part of this milestone event in the lives of our graduates who have worked so hard, often overcoming tremendous odds, to stand before you,” exclaimed Fuerst.

Graduates received a keynote address by Chris Holden, Assemblymember of the 41st District. Assemblymember Holden has had an impressive record of success in his first term with seven of his bills already signed into law. He did a great job of enriching graduates with advice to be successful on their career journeys. Lastly, motivational speaker Kristin Macdonald spoke to the graduates about having a perfect vision for the future and charged them to go after their dreams. Her message was particularly inspiring because Macdonald suffers from a degenerative eye condition that has taken almost all of her eyesight and ultimately halted her dreams of becoming an actress and television host. As she explains, although her eyesight is poor, her vision is perfect.

The mission of both colleges is to prepare students in short-term programs for gainful employment. The success of this graduating class proves that North-West College and Glendale Career College are excelling at achieving their mission as they continue to provide diverse programs that produce capable health care graduates.
