North-West College Launches Extensive Renovation of Eyecare Specialist and Massage Therapy Labs in Barton Hall

Project Underscores College’s Commitment to Remaining on the Leading Edge of Allied Health Education

WEST COVINA, Calif.—On March 28, North-West College (NWC) will begin a $150,000 renovation of Barton Hall, located on the College’s West Covina campus. Home to the Eyecare Specialist and Massage Therapist program laboratories and classrooms, Barton Hall serves hundreds of students each year. The remodel involves creating better defined spaces for each program, including Eyecare Specialist training stations, where students can simulate measuring patients for eyeglasses along with other relevant skills.

“We are excited about the opportunities this renovation offers our students here at North-West College,” Chief Strategy Officer Serjik Kesachekian explained. “Our goal is to create an educationally conducive environment—one which enables students to learn and practice the skills they need to begin a rewarding career in the health care field.”

For Massage Therapist students, the updated space will include a Smart-Board-equipped classroom surrounded by a number of massage tables—each with a privacy curtain—to allow them to practice various massage techniques throughout their program.

Slated for completion in early summer, the remodel involves a refresh of the entire building. From new restrooms and cabinetry for storage to a new Student Union where students can relax between classes, the renovation will allow students and Team Members alike to maximize their use of Barton Hall.

“At NWC, we see this space as so much more than classrooms,” Kesachekian shared. “Instead, it’s a bridge to the World of Work. These updates to Barton Hall make it possible for our students to stay on the leading edge of the health care field. We look forward to the hands-on learning that will take place in the newly renovated space—and the lives that will be changed for the better as a result.”
